Mental Monday

Mental Monday

When I started this blog, I wanted to focus on all the reasons to smile. So it’s time for a new addition to runwithkate.com.

Get ready for….

Mental Monday

I often find myself thinking in a negative way – I have to catch myself and work hard to turn that negative into a positive.

Here’s the deal. You can link up by using the button below if you want to. If you don’t – that’s totally fine! You can link up whenever you want, or just comment with your Mental Monday thought.

How it works: On Mondays, think of a negative thought you had today, or last week. Give it some air by saying it out loud. Then let it go. Pick a positive thought to replace it with.

Here’s my Mental Monday Moment:

‘I am so cranky about tapering – I’m just going to sit around losing muscle and feeling FAT’

I’m letting that thought go. Instead, I’m replacing it with

‘I am so excited to finally be tapering. I’m fitter than I’ve ever been, and it’s all going to pay off’.

It doesn’t have to be sport related – last week, mine was ‘I can’t fit all of this in!’ and I replaced it with ‘yes I can, all of this is manageable’.

Take me with you!

Grab the text from the grab button below to link up on your site or page. (If you prefer, you can copy and paste the image).

Mental Monday

Your Turn!

What’s your Mental Monday moment?
What are you replacing it with?

Thanks to My Cool Realm for grab button help!

Go Mindy! I feel like you’ve hit some kind of turning point – there’s no going back for you now. You can keep going with a boot, and yo haven;t lost motivtion or momentum – nothing will get in your way! xx

KATE!!!!!! i LOVE this concept!!!! that’s seriously such an AWESOME idea!!!!!! one of my negative thoughts this week has been “im scared to be watching the kids for three full days/nights all on my own while the parents are on a trip. ( this coming thurs, friday, saturday) they’re sick, and it’s going to take a lot out of me not having one free second to myself. ive already been working nearly 60 hrs a week!” i am going to replace that thought with “i can do it! the kiddos will be healthy by thursday and we will have a great time with the long weekend of sleepovers. i am going to think of fun things to do that are out of the ordinary to break the time up!”
thanks, love!!!! this really helps!!!! have a fab day! xxoo

    • Kate says:

Thanks Jenna! You are going to be great with those kids. I bet their mother couldn’t keep up with them like you do! What are you going to send your time doing when you do finally get some time out?
      Glad it helps! xx

  3. Oh I love this!!!! Let me see….my negative thought was yesterday when Sawyer was sick…I thought, “I can’t deal with this! It’s so hard when he is sick!” I’m replacing it with, “I am going to be a great and patient Mommy and do whatever I need to do to help my baby feel better.” Thanks Kate!!!

Go Mindy! You are a great mommy – no doubt. You can just see how much you care about your children. I am so grateful my mum was around when I was sick – it’s fantastic that you can do the same for Sawyer.

    KATE!

I love this, and your blog! My negative thought last week was “MY VACATION IS GOING TO BE OVER SO FAST, I HATE MY JOB I DONT WANT TO GO BACK TO WORK” (the thought happened in all capitals too, just as an fyi).

Today I’m thinking “I cannot believe I am so LUCKY to enjoy the next three days on the beach with my Mom and best friend and go running and listen to the waves crash”

I also can’t wait for your guest post (which is Wednesday btw!) because it is so darn awesome.
    Like you!!

Oh Amalia! I think everyone hates their job when they’re on holiday. Enjoy the holiday – you made me smile by asking me to post! I can’t tell you oe happy that made me :-)

  5. You are so smart to take those negative thoughts and flip them upside down. I need this reminder regularly!

      Thanks Laura :-) .

By the way – I love the menu planning link up with Jill. I haven’t participated because I know that I might explode if I try – but I’m going to keep it in mind for December onwards when life gets less stupid!

I was struggling with this earlier today, as a matter of fact. I’m frustrated that some pants that formally fit in the Spring, no longer do. And I was looking in the mirror and just disgusted with myself. Then I was like NO. Stop this. You are not defined by your size. I kind of replaced the negative thoughts with that. And the appreciation that I’m not giving up yet.

Definitely true – bodies change so much – they don’t stay static, and we can’t live forever at our lowest weight. Good on you for not giving up, and for finding the positive!

I love Mental Monday. I am a little late so I will have to chime in on that one next week. I thought Monday was Sunday for some reason. I am loosing it and I don’t have any excuse like TAPERING. :) Did I tell you I am so excited for your race. :)

You’re not losing it. I think we call that being busy! Tapering is a lame excuse too – I’m not doing anywhere near as much exercise :-) . And thanks so much for your enthusiasm and support! I can’t tell you how much it means. x

  8. SOOOOO cool!! check u out, u’re better than paying cashmoney to a therapist. ;) my mental monday…hmm, for a brief moment i’m gonna act like a dorky girl, “boys are stupid, wtf is up!?” and i’ll change it to, “oh well, at least i got my run on today, and now i can mindlessly distract my brain by reading awesome blogs…plus, kate is cooler than any lame boy.” ;)

Lol! Therapists have to be the most patient people on earth. Boys are stupid. Completely stupid :-( . But a run is always an awesome way to turn a frown upside down (that’s a smile, not an upside down frown’ :-) )

  9. Jenelle says:

Right up my alley today. Woke up a bit misery guts today. Luckily a kick of endorphins from my run got me going but here goes my sook…

I get so lonely when Big A travels for work. Life is so much more fun when he’s here!

    To

I can paint my toenails, cook fish without offending anyone’s nose and I can sit up Blogging and reading without feeling guilty for not spending quality time with my husband!

Wahoo. That feels great. Between running and Kate’s Mental Mondays I may just not need therapy after all :)

I’m glad it helped a bit Jenelle. It sucks that Big A is gone…but sitting up at night is awesome (I kind of love that when I’m in Canberra)
