Cross Training
5 May 2012
No matter where you head on the internet (if you’re checking out running programs, that is), you can’t avoid the cross-training day. I have to be honest, I had my doubts about this. I’m an all-in kind of person, and it’s always a little painful to force myself to do something that’s not directly related to the end goal.
However, I’m a convert. What do you do on your cross training days? Here are a few of my favourites:
Bikram Yoga: Get sweaty. Really sweaty, with a 90 minute set of 26 postures in 40⁰c heat.
My favourite at the moment? Bikram in Mitchell
Rock Climbing: my housemate got me into this, and I have to confess I’ve only tried it once. I was pretty terrible, but man did I feel it the next day. In Canberra, head to Mitchell or Hume.
Walking: pretty tame, I know. But sometimes a nice walk can leave you feeling refreshed and recharged for the rest of your week. Make it harder by climbing up a mountain (or, if in Canberra, a small hill).
